Leadership Lincoln to Host Annual Celebration of Community Leadership

Long-time community supporters and advocates, Dick and Senator Kathy Campbell are the honorary chairs for Leadership Lincoln’s (www.leadershiplincoln.org “Annual Celebration of Community Leadership” luncheon to be held on Monday, April 18 at the Nebraska Innovation Campus ballroom.  The event will feature Jessica Shortall, a global social entrepreneur and former Director of Giving for TOMs shoes, sharing her message of “The Hard Work of Doing Good Well.” Leadership Lincoln will also recognize this year’s winners for the Melvin W. Jones Mentoring Award and the Bud Cuca Servant Leaders of the Year Award.

The Campbells have taken leadership roles in many civic and business organizations in Lincoln.  Dick currently serves as chairman of the BryanHealth Foundation and Kathy, State Senator from District 25, chairs the Health and Human Services Committee.

Keynote speaker Jessica Shortall started her adult life as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uzbekistan and hasn’t stopped searching for ways to change the world since. In the early 2000s, she co-founded and franchised The Campus Kitchens Project, a non-profit organization that is now active in more than 40 communities. As the first Director of Giving for TOMS Shoes, Jessica helped to build and implement the now-iconic One for One giving program that, to date, has provided more than 50 million children in need with new shoes.
