Lincoln Community Foundation (LCF) (selectlincoln.org/lincoln-family-friendly-workplace-certification) has been certified as a Family-Friendly Workplace through a new program led by Lincoln Littles and the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development (LPED). The certification recognizes employers that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting working families with young children, implement family-friendly workplace practices for their employees, and help make Lincoln a great place to live, work and play by prioritizing family well-being and early childhood support.
“Working parents are often faced with immense challenges,” said Tracy Edgerton, president of Lincoln Community Foundation. “This certification reflects our ongoing commitment as an employer to building a workplace culture that enables our team to thrive both inside and outside the office.”
The certification program highlights policies and practices that support working parents, including child care assistance, flexible scheduling and paid or unpaid leave. Employers that meet at least seven of 10 qualifying criteria earn the Family-Friendly Workplace Certification.
“Family-friendly policies are not just good for employees; they strengthen the whole organization,” said Allison Hatch, director of talent development at LPED. “Companies that adopt these approaches often experience lower absenteeism, reduced healthcare costs and a healthier, more resilient workplace culture.” Additional organizations that earned certification include Ameritas, the City of Lincoln, Don’t Panic Labs, First National Bank of Omaha, Lincoln Children’s Zoo, Lincoln Electric System, Primrose’s schools at Hudl and Wilderness Hills, Schemmer, TMCO and the University of Nebraska Lincoln. “Lincoln Community Foundation has been a longtime champion for innovative child care solutions,” said Anne Brandt, executive director of Lincoln Littles. “While supporting the broader community, they also consider their employees in a holistic sense. We’re grateful for their leadership and commitment to improving access to both employment and child care.”
