Lincoln Northeast Sertomans Clean Highway 34
For 25 years, right of way along a three-mile stretch of HWY 34 east of Eagle has been cleaned twice a year by members of the Lincoln Northeast Sertoma Club (www.northeastsertoma.org). Wearing high visible vests, eight members filled large trash bags on both sides of the road on April 9. The event started with a hearty breakfast at Hy-Vee, followed by placing Nebraska Department of Roads pick-up signs on each end of the road section. In addition to providing a community service, Club President Sharon Cunning said the members look forward to this activity for fellowship and conversation on the variety of items collected. This is one of many projects in which members physically participate for community betterment.
LINCOLN NORTHEAST SERTOMA CLUB celebrates its 46th year of improving the quality of life for those impacted by hearing loss and supporting those in need. Members work event concessions to annually raise and donate $50,000 to numerous worthy human service organizations. The Club meets weekly from 7-8 a.m. Thursdays at the Hy-Vee community room, 5010 “O” Street. Program speakers are public/private sector leaders making a difference in our community. Guests are welcome. For more information call/email Club President Sharon Cunning, (402) 540-1515, sharoncunning@gmail.com or visit www.northeastsertoma.org about the Lincoln Northeast Sertoma Club.
