LUX Center for the Arts (www.luxcenter.org) presents “Nebraska Tallgrass Prairies,” an exhibition by Jean Lewis. This exhibition will have a First Friday opening reception August 7 from 5-8 p.m.

The work of local photographer Jean Lewis often features long abandoned sites throughout Nebraska. Lewis’ treatment of Nebraska’s forgotten buildings and land is emotionally provocative and heightened by her skillful use of the camera. Lewis’ photographs are sure to evoke emotion within this intimate setting. “Nebraska Tallgrass Prairies” will be on display in the Folsom Gallery through September 25.

“Lies and sexy dreams” by Kim Darling (Kim Reid Kuhn) will continue to be featured in the West Gallery through August 28. Using paint, spray enamel, pastels, pens, and pencils, Kim Darling (Kim Reid Kuhn) explores taboo iconography and sacred/profane dichotomies by making marks in a method similar to automatic writing. She draws upon historic and contemporary icons from our collective daily reality, exploring cultural commodification.

LUX Center for the Arts is free and open to the public. Free parking is available on the west side of the building just off of 48th and Baldwin.  LUX Center for the Arts is located in historic University Place at 2601 N. 48th Street.
