On Sunday, January 19, the LUX Center for the Arts (luxcenter.org) held its Ninth Annual Art Scholar Ceremony at O’Donnell Auditorium at Nebraska Wesleyan University. This year, 47 students from 23 of Lincoln’s Title 1 schools were recognized and awarded with $500 scholarships through the LUX Art Scholar Program. Representatives from LUX Art Scholar benefactors, the Pearle Francis Finigan Foundation and the Pace Woods Foundation, awarded the certificates along with LUX Executive Director, Joe Shaw.
Each recipient received an award certificate, a LUX Art Scholar t-shirt and a bag filled with art supplies to take home. Following the ceremony students and their families were invited to the LUX to enjoy an afternoon of free, hands-on art activities during Winterfest, LUX’s annual winter community event.
The LUX Art Scholar Program is sustaining our mission and helping us to create the next generation of artists and creative leaders in our community.
