Matt Talbot Celebrates 25th Annual Huskers Helping the Homeless Set for October 9

Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (www.mtko.org), Lincoln’s largest community kitchen and outreach center, is teaming up with volunteers and sponsors for the 25th annual Huskers Helping the Homeless to raise money for the organization’s hunger relief and homeless prevention services offered 365 days of the year. Organizers hope to raise $55,000.

Volunteers will be in downtown Lincoln safely accepting monetary donations on behalf of Matt Talbot on Saturday, October 9 before Nebraska’s homecoming game against the Michigan Wolverines. Throughout the month of October, volunteers will be selling chances to win a pair of tickets to the remaining home games against Purdue, Ohio State, and Iowa. Local businesses and families are invited to serve as sponsors of the event. Event sponsorships are critical to maintaining Matt Talbot’s hunger relief and homeless prevention services 365 days a year. Whether it is a few meals served with love to help a family make it until the next paycheck, or one-on-one counseling to help a person experiencing chronic homelessness become successfully housed, financial contributions to Matt Talbot provide bold hope and help change lives. Donations can also be made online at www.mtko.org.

Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is a hunger relief and outreach center for those in need. In a typical year, Matt Talbot provides approximately 100,000 nutritious prepared meals to the hungry in Lincoln and more than 30,000 homeless prevention services such as housing, substance use evaluations, life skills classes, nutrition counseling, and help with obtaining vital identification documents.
