Matt Talbot Celebrates 30 Years with Goal of Collecting 30K Pounds of Food

To celebrate 30 years of service to the Lincoln community, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (mtko.org) has a goal of collecting 30,000 pounds of high quality food from grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, and gardeners in 2022. In April, over 4,000 pounds of food was collected from various partners, including Whole Foods, Chick-Fil-A, Costco, and more. That is more than 7,000 meals! Guests have the opportunity to select from a wide variety of nutritious items, including salads, dairy products, wraps, bread, vegetables, and fruit. Vegetables and herbs from Matt Talbot’s on-site HOPE garden will be harvested and made available to guests as the growing season progresses. HOPE garden is planted and maintained by volunteers.

Victoria O’Neil, director of Hunger Relief & Volunteerism, is expanding this food distribution initiative and looking for new community partners to increase access to high quality food for individuals and families living in poverty and/or experiencing homelessness. Businesses, local producers, and backyard gardeners with nutritious food to donate are welcome to join this effort. If you would like to donate food or volunteer in HOPE Garden, please contact Victoria at (402) 817-0623 / victoria.oneil@mtko.org for more information.

Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach provides two meals 365 days a year to individuals and families in need, with volunteers providing, preparing, and serving the majority of the meals. Learn more at mtko.org.
