“You Want Fries With That?” is the working theme of the 25th Annual Merrymakers (www.merrymakers.org) TOAST on Thursday, November 5th at the Embassy Suites La Vista Conference Center.

This year Merrymakers is tweaking the roast formula by TOASTING the late Omaha philanthropist Mike Simmonds who was also a long-standing board member for the organization. What will stay the same is the fun and laughter that has been a trademark of the annual event.

This year’s toasters include Sid Dinsdale of Pinnacle Bank, Cyndy Peacock of the Methodist Hospital Foundation, and John P. Nelson from Silverstone. Mary Maxwell will emcee the event

The Roast is the main fundraiser for the Merrymakers Association. Now in its 29th year, the area non-profit has grown significantly in the last 2-3 years throughout Nebraska and Iowa. The event is open to the public, and sponsorships are available. Individual ticket prices are $200. This year, we will have a special under-40 price of $75.

The musical talents of the Merrymakers performers will be showcased during the cocktail hour. Merrymakers now provides professional music for seniors in 134 facilities in Nebraska, Omaha/Council Bluffs, and Central Iowa. Last year the Merrymakers musicians gave more than 1,500 performances to an often overlooked segment of our population–our seniors.
