The Museum of American Speed (MuseumofAmericanSpeed.com) marks its second year as home to the Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame, the nation’s longest-running BMX Hall of Fame. Founded in 2010 by Omaha native Tim Lillethorup, the Hall of Fame honors the racers, industry leaders and supporters who have shaped BMX in Nebraska. The Museum has dedicated a full exhibit featuring inductee profiles, vintage bikes, uniforms, trophies and memorabilia.

On October 24th, the Museum will host the annual Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony, honoring BMX icons Stu Thomsen and Mike Miranda, both National BMX Hall of Fame inductees. The day includes a bike show and competition presented by ABSApro, the world’s largest rolling Redline Bikes display from the Rob Lane Collection, a freestyle exhibition by Nebraska’s Nowear team, an autograph signing and the induction dinner.

In 2025, the Museum partnered with Brad and Charlotte Fanshaw to establish the Nebraska Cup, honoring leadership and a lasting commitment to youth activities, mentorship and community
involvement, with a perpetual trophy on permanent display.

Founded in 1992 by “Speedy” Bill and Joyce Smith, the Museum of American Speed spans 200,000 square feet and features the Unser Racing Museum, Darryl Starbird Rod & Custom Hall of Fame, Herzog Motorsports, NASCAR and SCCA Hall of Fame exhibits.
