Nebraska Diaper Bank (NDB) (nebraskadiaperbank.org) has received $25,000 in grants from two Lincoln-area grant makers, Lincoln Community Foundation and Duncan Aviation Family Trust, to help more families access essential diapers.
Lincoln Community Foundation awarded NDB a $15,000 Open Door Grant to support the organization’s continued expansion in Lincoln. Duncan Aviation Family Trust awarded an additional $10,000 to support NDB’s work providing diapers to babies and families in the capital city.
An estimated 4,018 Lincoln babies under age 3 are at risk of diaper need. Diapers are a basic need that is not covered by most public assistance programs.
“No parent should have to choose between diapers and other essentials their family needs,” said Tegan Reed, executive director of Nebraska Diaper Bank. “We are grateful for the support of these generous grant makers, which will help ensure more families can access the diapers they need.”
Through its community partnerships, NDB supplies diapers to trusted organizations that distribute them directly to families. They already serve 950 babies who receive diapers through five partners in the Lincoln area. These grants move NDB closer to its goal of distributing 1 million diapers annually in Lincoln by the end of 2027.
