Nebraska Folklife (nebraskafolklife.org) is thrilled to announce its participation as a community partner in the highly anticipated Benson First Friday’s New American Arts Festival (NAAF). Celebrating Nebraska Folklife’s 20th anniversary and NAAF’s 10th anniversary, this event will be held in the heart of the Benson Creative District in Omaha, honoring and showcasing the rich cultures of the immigrant, migrant and refugee communities within the Omaha Metropolitan area. Mark your calendars and be sure to attend the event August 4 from 6 to 10 p.m.

NAAF will have a variety of captivating exhibitions, mesmerizing performances and engaging booths, creating an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. Nebraska Folklife is particularly excited to introduce Danza Tlacololeros de Schuyler, a vibrant folkloric dance group from Schuyler, who will be performing at the festival for the first time. With their unique costumes and traditional pre-Hispanic dances from Guerrero, Mexico, their performance is a sight to see.

Nebraska Folklife’s mission is to amplify the presence of folk and traditional artists throughout the state, providing them with greater exposure and recognition. By providing a platform for the artists like Danza Tlacololeros de Schuyler, they aim to foster a deeper appreciation for cultural heritage and promote understanding within our diverse Nebraska communities.
