Nebraska Safety Council Offers Lincoln’s Only AAA-Approved Teen Driver Education Course

The Nebraska Safety Council (nesafetycouncil.org) offers Lincoln’s only AAA-Approved Teen Driver Education course, with classes available at Southeast, Lincoln East, and Southwest High Schools, along with the Nebraska Safety Council location (near North Star High School). Summer classes are open for registration and scholarships are available to students that are on the reduced or free lunch program (while funds last).

New drivers face more risk on the road due to their lack of skills and experience. Drivers 15-20 had the highest representation in speed-related fatal crashes compared to any other age group (NHTSA, 2018). A majority of teen driver crashes are from three critical errors: lack of scanning, going too fast for road conditions, and distracted driving. The Nebraska DOT has labeled the continued overinvolvement of young, inexperienced drivers in crashes and fatal crashes “disturbing.”

Enroll your teen in a Nebraska Safety Council quality program to provide them with the classroom and behind-the-wheel training they need to be safe drivers.
