People’s City Mission (pcmlincoln.org) depends on community volunteers to help meet essential daily needs. Two of the greatest ongoing needs are serving meals to guests at the shelter and helping sort, organize and distribute donated food, clothing and household goods at the Help Center. PCM relies on more than 25,000 hours of volunteer service each year, demonstrating how deeply the Lincoln community participates in caring for its neighbors.
Individuals can volunteer on their own, while families, churches, service organizations and workplace teams can select a shift and serve together. At the shelter, volunteers help with lunch and dinner meal service. At the Help Center, they may sort donations, stock distribution areas or assist people receiving donations.
People’s City Mission needs volunteers year-round, but especially this fall and winter when they are at their busiest. Volunteers should register for an available shift in advance. Current volunteer opportunities and available shifts can be found through PCM’s online volunteer portal. Walk -in volunteers are not accepted.
