People’s City Mission Launches Video Series to Highlight Behind the Scenes at the Shelter
After realizing how few people understood all that People’s City Mission (PCM, pcmlincoln.org) does for the community, Pastor Tom, who runs the mission, decided to start a weekly series of short one- to two-minute videos to highlight some of the things they see on a daily basis. This realization came to Pastor Tom as he sat outside for 24 hours at the Railyard in the Haymarket for their annual Gimme Shelter event. His hope is that the videos will help people in the community have a better understanding of what PCM does, who they serve, and why they are so passionate about helping the homeless and impoverished. The videos can be found on PCM’s Facebook and Instagram pages (@pcmlincoln).
People’s City Mission houses 350 men, women, and children each night in emergency shelters and the Curtis Center transitional housing program. They also distribute free food, clothing, household items, furniture, toys, and personal-care items. The PCM Medical Clinic offers dental, chiropractic, and mental-wellness services to low-income Lincoln residents without medical insurance. Learn more at pcmlincoln.org or by calling (402) 475-1303.
