The shoe distribution kick-off for People’s City Mission’s (pcmlincoln.org) 15th Annual Day without Shoes Shoe Drive will happen Friday, April 25 at People’s City Mission Help Center (6800 P St.).

Since 2011, Cornhusker Bank and People’s City Mission (PCM) have partnered to help raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a person’s life by hosting a Day Without Shoes event every year. The public has been encouraged to bring new or used shoes or cash donations to help put good shoes on the feet of Lincoln’s less fortunate.

During the event, Cornhusker Bank will present a check to PCM, which will be followed by a press conference. Then, PCM guests will be able to choose shoes for themselves and their families, then shoppers from the public. The remainder of the shoes collected will be distributed over the next several weeks to needy families who are served at the Help Center.

• 11 a.m.: Presentation and Press Conference (in the shopping waiting area)

• 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Shelter Guests shop shoes

• 1-3 p.m.: Community shop shoes

“PCM is so incredibly thankful for Cornhusker Bank’s dedication to this drive every year. Thousands of folks in Lincoln will be helped because of all of the shoes and money collected this year. Thank you for your kindness to the homeless and impoverished,” says Pastor Tom Barber.
