People’s City Mission to Host Memorial Day Picnic for All Mission Guests May 30

People’s City Mission (PCM, pcmlincoln.org) recently announced plans to host a Memorial Day Picnic for all guests of the Mission on Sunday, May 30. The picnic will include great food, activities for kids, and even some live music! It will all happen in the employee parking area of the PCM campus—and guests are really looking forward to it! In the midst of shutdowns last year, the Mission was forced to cancel many of their activities, making life much more difficult for those staying there. They are, however, looking forward to better times ahead, and while keeping masks and social distancing in place, plan to celebrate and enjoy this especially important holiday.

During the celebration, PCM will also honor homeless veterans who have died during the last year and will acknowledge those who are still with us. People’s City Mission is so grateful for their service and want to remember their sacrifice on this special day.

People’s City Mission was started in 1907 by local churches, offering food and shelter for transient and impoverished men, women, and children. In 1987, PCM moved to their current location and now houses 350 men, women, and children nightly in their emergency shelters and the Curtis Center transitional housing program.
