Pius X Honors Student-Athletes at Signing Ceremony

On Wednesday, November 11, Pius X High School (www.piusx.net) honored three Class of 2016 student-athletes who have chosen to participate in collegiate athletics. The two Thunderbolt Softball players and one Cross-Country and Track & Field runner signed their letters of intent during the ceremony held at 11:30 a.m.in the school’s Performing Arts Center and in front of fellow students, coaches, faculty/staff, family members, and guests.

MacKenzie Helman will play softball at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. As a Jackrabbit, she will pursue a degree in exercise science and physical therapy. Her Pius X softball coach was Don Rempe, and she is the daughter of Tim and Annette Helman.

Willa Koenig will run cross country and participate in track and field at the University of Nebraska – Omaha. The daughter of Bret and Emily Koenig, Willa will pursue a degree in engineering. Her Pius X coach was George O’Boyle.

Morgan Shipley will play softball at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. As a member of the Prairie Wolves, she will pursue a degree in pre-medicine. Her Pius X softball coach was Don Rempe, and she is the daughter of Tim and Geri Shipley.
