Record Donations to Allow TeamMates to Expand Number of Student-Mentor Matches

Thanks to record donations on Give to Lincoln Day, Lincoln TeamMates (www.lincolnteammates.org) plans to expand the number of mentors in its program and increase the number of youth who get to experience the personal growth and confidence that a TeamMates match feeds. The group received a record-high $26,000+ in this year’s campaign, up 24% from last year’s contributions.

“We weren’t sure how the day would go at a time of struggle for so many,” said Christine Davis, grant and fundraising specialist for Lincoln TeamMates. “Early in the day, it seemed that we might need to appropriately set aside our goal to make way for those nonprofits providing basic necessities. But the Lincoln community had another plan in mind, with givers appearing to recognize the value of a ‘both-and’ approach instead of an ‘either-or’ one.”

For Lincoln TeamMates, the success of the fundraising drive means that it can continue to carry out all of the behind-the-scenes work that fuels the valued partnerships that students get to share with their volunteer mentors, in addition to expanding the program to reach more students.

“We’re so thankful for our generous partners, the Lincoln Community Foundation and Firespring, for coordinating such an efficient and unifying event – and, of course, the community of Lincoln for stepping up to the plate,” Davis said.

TeamMates mentoring of Lincoln makes a meaningful impact in the local community and beyond by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring. Matches meet once a week in school during the academic year. For more information about TeamMates of Lincoln and becoming a mentor, please visit www.lincolnteammates.org or call (402) 436-1990.
