Runza® Fundraiser Supports TeamMates Program

Runza® partners with the TeamMates Mentoring Program (www.lincolnteammates.org) in Lincoln and throughout Nebraska in many ways, including introducing a chain-wide fundraiser to benefit TeamMates.

Runza® loyal customers, media partners, and the many partnerships with local TeamMates chapters enabled the restaurant chain to donate $16,933.73 in the first year. Since 2010, contributions totaled of $129,897, said Becky Perrett, Director of Marketing at Runza® National. The local chapters receive the funds donated in their community. Over the six years of the fundraiser, the Lincoln chapter has received more than $27,400.

On April 5th, 2016, Runza® will again donate 10 percent of all proceeds to the TeamMates Program. Seventy-eight Runza® locations, including 16 in Lincoln, will participate.

In addition to monetary contributions, Runza® offers employees the opportunity to volunteer as a mentor. Employees may count the hour spent with their mentee each week as a paid part of their work day.

Vizma Shaeffer, Marketing Creative Manager, said she and her mentee discuss everything. “It is amazing how one visit, once a week, is truly enough – and how over time it becomes so much more. Being a TeamMate mentor is life changing.”
