School Community Intervention & Prevention (SCIP), a program of Lincoln Medical Education Partnership, will host its fourth Drug Impairment Training for Education Professionals (DITEP) on June 23 and 24 at the Lincoln Medical Education Partnership (4600 Valley Road). DITEP is intended to provide school administrators, nurses and resource officers with a systematic approach to recognizing and evaluating individuals in the academic environment who are abusing and impaired by drugs to provide early recognition and intervention.

This training is facilitated by Drug Recognition Experts from the Lincoln Police Department and supported by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. SCIP is a program designed to bring together families, school and the community to support student behavioral and emotional health.

SCIP is funded (16% or $50,000) from the Strategic Prevention Framework-Partnerships for Success States grant (5H79SP083671-02) & (55% or $168,837.71) from the Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grant (1B08TIO88119-01 through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, contracted through the NE DHHS, Div. of Behavioral Health. SCIP also receives (3% or $10,000) in state funding and (26% or $82,110) of funding from non-governmental sources, including United Way of Lincoln Lancaster County.
