Local Scouts from Cornhusker Council (cornhuskercouncil.org) are gathering on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. – noon for a Scout Expo, at Woods Park, 33rd & O Streets, giving families and community members a chance to learn more about Scouting and its activities. The event features demonstrations, games, outdoor skills and displays from Scout Units and adult leaders.
Visitors can watch Scouts demonstrate skills such as knot tying, first aid and camping techniques. Children of all ages are invited to participate in several hands-on activities, while families could ask questions about joining a Scout Pack or Troop or becoming involved as volunteers.
The Scout Expo will also highlight the importance of teamwork, leadership and community service. Scouts will share examples of service projects they have completed and explain how they work
together to help people in their community.
The event is designed to show families and the community what Scouting offers beyond traditional camping. The Cornhusker Council hopes the expo will encourage more families to explore Scouting and its opportunities for adventure, friendship and leadership.
