Gail Shaffer Blankenau, a professional genealogist, speaker and author who specializes in German genealogy, land records and lineage research, will deliver the keynote address during this year’s Land Records & Genealogy Symposium July 10 and 11 at the Beatrice Campus of Southeast Community College.
In addition to performing private client research, Shaffer Blankenau enjoys speaking and writing about genealogy. Her articles have appeared in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register, The Genealogist, Everton’s Genealogical Helper, The National Genealogical Society magazine, Family Chronicle, Internet Genealogy, The Ohio Genealogical Society Quarterly and Nebraska Ancestree.
Other scheduled speakers are Tina Beaird, Bill Ganzel, Jason Felihkatubbe, David McDonald, and Nancy Johnson. Beaird is the genealogy/local history librarian at the Plainfield Public Library in Plainfield, Ill and Ganzel is the author of the book, “Dust Bowl Descent.” Felihkatubbe’s focus is on Native American Indian research, McDonald is a Board-certified genealogist, and Johnson focuses on Nebraska women from 1870 through 1900.
