The Smile Out Loud Foundation (SmileOutLoudFoundation.org) hosted a ribbon cutting event with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce on June 29th as a formal introduction of the Nebraska 501c3 non-profit organization created to raise awareness about dyslexia and support those with learning disabilities in our community. During the event, the Smile Out Loud Foundation was also pleased to announce the 2015 Smile Out Loud Scholarship Award winners. Following up on the success of the foundation’s 2015 Give to Lincoln Day campaign, two $500 college scholarships were presented to local high school graduates with learning disabilities, and two $250 scholarships were given to local individuals for dyslexia tutoring training.
David Staenberg is the founder and Executive Director of the Smile Out Loud Foundation, and throughout Lincoln, he is better known as the “Free Smile Guy.” David is an author, life coach, and a diagnosed dyslexic. His vision for the Smile Out Loud Foundation is to provide resources for youth with dyslexia to create a productive, smile-filled life. The purpose of the Smile Out Loud Foundation is to create awareness in society concerning dyslexia by providing resources and education, with the mission of building strategic relationships with businesses and community organizations to engage youth with dyslexia in the learning process.
