Community Action Head Start (communityactionatwork.org) is asking community members and businesses to sponsor a preschool or baby/toddler classroom to help invest in the future of children in the Lincoln area. Individual or combined sponsorship in the amount of $1,500 provides the necessary supplies and resources teachers need to support the development of enrolled children for a year. Sponsors also receive a recognition plaque placed outside the classroom of their choosing.
Community Action has been welcoming children and families from at-risk backgrounds into its Head Start early childhood education programs in Lincoln for more than 56 years. Enrolled children live at or below 100% of poverty level ($27,750 annually for a family of four), and many face additional challenges such as homelessness or disability. Community Action provides these young children with opportunities to learn and grow all year long in preparation for kindergarten and beyond.
“The children and families participating in Community Action Head Start work alongside program staff to build skills and create opportunities for success in school and in life,” said Early Head Start and Head Start Director Jill Bomberger. “We’re so thankful to be part of such a generous community. Continued support from community members is essential to this work’s success, and therefore the success of the children and families we serve.”
