Talent Plus Volunteers Help Remodel the Lobby at People’s City Mission
People’s City Mission (pcmlincoln.org/donate) received a helping hand from one of their generous corporate supporters, Talent Plus, Inc. The company has been sending volunteers from their staff to give a facelift to the entryway and lobby of People City Mission’s Lincoln shelter at 110 Q St. Pastor Tom Barber, the chief executive officer of the People’s City Mission, has been eagerly awaiting the reveal of the amazing work these volunteers started in June.
“They’ve done a great job. It was something we’ve really needed. We have a lot of people come through here. Last year, over 25,000 volunteers spent time at the Mission, many of them serving at the shelters. These updates have allowed us to move our guests to another location and bring volunteers through a lobby that looks nice and is much more high-tech,” Pastor Tom said.
Updates to the lobby included a television screen that displays data for volunteers and a computer system that brings up a volunteer’s name and record information. These upgrades will continue to make it easier for the nonprofit to accommodate all of their volunteers and the people they serve.
People’s City Mission was started in 1907 and is Lincoln’s only shelter. Their mission is to feed and shelter the homeless and impoverished, while sharing the good news about Jesus Christ, thus promoting human transformation. The Mission gladly accepts donations of time, clothing, toiletries, food, and other resources. To learn more about their current needs, visit pcmlincoln.org/donate.
