TeamMates and Firespring Partnership Benefits Many Within Both Organizations

The TeamMates Mentoring Program (www.lincolnteammates.org) enjoys a rewarding partnership with Firespring (www.firespring.com), one of the largest marketing communications firms in the Midwest and Nebraska’s first Certified B Corporation.

Firespring currently has five team members who volunteer with TeamMates. Last quarter alone, those team members dedicated 50 hours to the organization.

Brad Penner, PR counsel, has been a TeamMates mentor for 12 years. His current mentee is a senior at Lincoln High School.

“TeamMates truly is a program that benefits the mentor as much as the mentee,” Penner said. “It’s well worth the time spent meeting with your TeamMate.”

Bruce Coufal, VP of operations, became involved with TeamMates through friends who recommended the program.

“I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my TeamMate and establishing a friendship that I believe is beneficial to both of us,” Coufal said.

Producer Rhett McClure began volunteering recently, lending TeamMates his editing skills for their graduating seniors video.

“It’s a ton of fun to see these students as they prepare for life after high school,” McClure said.

In 2015, Firespring completed a total of 9,742 volunteer hours as part of its core purpose of leveraging its people, products and profit as a force for good.

“TeamMates looks forward to engaging even more volunteers at Firespring when Dr. Tom Osborne shares a presentation on the benefits of mentoring at an upcoming Firespring Lunch and Learn,” said Emily Haack, TeamMates Mentor Recruiting staff member.
