January was National Mentoring Month, and while the month may have passed, the need for mentors continues. TeamMates Mentoring of Lincoln (LincolnTeamMates.org) is still looking for local businesses that would like to host recruitment presentations for their staff.
While Lincoln TeamMates will have supported over 1,400 matches over the 2025-26 school year, they still have over 500 students awaiting a mentor. TeamMates provides students in grades 3-12 with a one-to-one adult mentor who provides support and encouragement.
“Our partnerships with businesses are fundamental to our success as an organization. We have some great partners, but would love to add more this year,” says Jim Bennett, Director for TeamMates of Lincoln. “Businesses benefit from volunteering by uplifting the community, and by doing so, they can demonstrate the mission and values of their company.”
There are tremendous benefits to a company’s workforce and productivity as well. TeamMates surveys participants annually, and results continuously reveal that after their mentoring visit, mentors return to work more engaged, hopeful and in a better mood.
