TeamMates Mentoring Offers Speakers for National Mentoring Month

In honor of January being National Mentoring Month, TeamMates Mentoring (LincolnTeamMates.org) is offering the chance to have a choice of speakers visit your office, community group, or organization. Speakers include: Nebraska football coach, former Congressman, and TeamMates co-founder Tom Osborne; motivational speaker and Husker alumnus Aaron Davis; Husker alumnus, motivational speaker, and TeamMates CEO DeMoine Adams; and Miss Nebraska Morgan Holen.

Presentations last 30 to 45 minutes, and topics include a look into how one adult can make an impact in a student’s life, the benefits of strengths-based mentoring, and Osborne’s reflection of TeamMates’ 30 years in youth mentoring.

TeamMates Mentoring, started in 1991 in Lincoln by Tom and Nancy Osborne, provides an adult volunteer mentor to students in grades 3-12. TeamMates meet at the young person’s school for one class period weekly during the school year. A mentor serves as an unconditional supporter, and matches often play games, craft, or just chat in their visits. Now in 170 communities across five Midwest states, Lincoln remains the largest TeamMates chapter, having served 1,295 students in the 2020-21 school year. The need for additional mentors remains high. To request a speaker, please email LincolnTeamMates@lps.org or call (402) 436-1990.
