The Arc of Lincoln (arclincoln.org) is excited to welcome cyclists from Journey of Hope, an annual cross-country cycling event organized by The Ability Experience, the national philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Each summer, approximately 50 fraternity brothers cycle more than 8,000 miles across the United States to raise funds and awareness for individuals with disabilities.
As part of their journey, the cyclists participate in Friendship Visits in communities across the country, building meaningful connections with individuals with disabilities through shared activities and celebrations. The Arc of Lincoln will host its local Friendship Visit during the Stars, Stripes & Good Vibes Journey of Hope Dance on Wednesday, July 8, at Eastridge Presbyterian Church, 1135 Eastridge Drive. There will be dancing and activities from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
The Arc of Lincoln is also preparing for Disability Empowerment Night with the Lincoln Saltdogs on Friday, August 7. What began in 2021 as a memorial celebration for Damian Olander, a young
man with autism who loved baseball and fi reworks, has grown into a stadium-wide event empowering individuals with disabilities and their families.
Last year, more than 500 complimentary tickets were distributed through the generosity of community sponsors and donors. The Arc of Lincoln is currently seeking sponsorships and donations to help provide free tickets for families attending this year’s event.
