The Arc of Lincoln invites community members, families, and local businesses to participate in Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) this March through a series of inclusive events promoting belonging, advocacy, and connection for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

The month begins with the National Inclusion Day Lunch & Mingle on March 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Arc of Lincoln office. On March 3, supporters can attend the Senatorial Dinner benefiting The Arc of Nebraska at Embassy Suites by Hilton Lincoln Downtown. Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird will present the official DDAM Proclamation on March 6 at 10:30 a.m.

The Pickleball Round Robins, hosted with Pickleball Lincoln, will take place March 7 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Speedway Village, with inclusive community play beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Families, caregivers, and providers are invited to the Community Resource Fair on March 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Career Academy at Southeast Community College. The month concludes with an Inclusive Community Bingo Night Fundraiser on March 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes three bingo cards, pizza, and a drink.

During March 23–27, the community can participate in DDAM Spirit Week by celebrating differences on Miss Match Monday, wearing neon colors for Shine Bright Tuesday, honoring resilience on Superhero Wednesday, teaming up for inclusion on Sports Team Thursday, and showing support by wearing orange on Friday.

Businesses are encouraged to partner through memberships, sponsorships, donations, or silent auction, demonstrating leadership while sustaining inclusive opportunities.
