Sometimes the most meaningful friendships begin with a simple invitation: Pull up a chair!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Community Health Endowment (CHE), The Arc of Lincoln (arclincoln.org) is bringing people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) together through Socialize & Sizzle, an innovative program focused on social wellness, reducing isolationand building lasting friendships.

Session 3 begins Thursday, Jan. 21, 2027. Each session meets weekly for six weeks.

Community professionals are invited to participate as friends, mentors and partner chefs, preparing meals, sharing conversations and developing meaningful relationships in a welcoming, inclusive environment. No professional cooking experience is necessary—just a willingness to connect, encourage and have fun!

“Some of the best conversations happen around the table,” said Jennifer Stuhmer, Executive Director of The Arc of Lincoln. “You may come expecting to make a difference in someone’s life and discover that the friendship makes just as much of a difference in yours.”

The Arc of Lincoln is deeply grateful to CHE for investing in a program that recognizes friendship, belonging, and social connection as essential parts of community health.

Openings are available! Businesses are encouraged to invite employees to make a six-week commitment. Session 3 meets on Thursdays.
