The Arc of Lincoln will Host a Dance for The Ability Experience Participants on July 14

The Arc of Lincoln (advocacypartnership.org) has teamed up with the Star City Lions Club to host a dance for the 26 men on the Journey of Hope 2021 Team who are stopping in Lincoln on July 14 as a part of The Ability Experience, which consists of over 100 men bicycling across the country to help change the way society views people with disabilities. Community members are also welcome to attend the dance, which will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 4530 A St., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Anyone who likes to have fun while supporting people with special needs is welcome, with a $2 donation if possible. The Star City Lions Club will provide a nice dinner before the dance for the men, and then the club will also provides hot dogs, chips, and water to the community members who join the festivities. There will also be an amazing DJ through Complete Weddings + Events who knows how to keep the party moving.

The Ability Experience (abilityexperience.org) is held annually to test the participants’ limits, spread awareness, and celebrate the abilities of all people. With three routes kicking off on the West Coast, teams spend the summer crossing the country over a combined 12,000 miles with an arrival at the Capitol Lawn in Washington DC to mark the end of a life-changing event. Along the way, the team spreads the message of disability awareness through local media and makes stops at partner organizations.

The mission of the Arc of Lincoln is to encourage and provide opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to lead productive lives and to achieve their full potential.
