The Bridge Behavioral Health (thebridgenebraska.org) is excited to announce the opening of The Bridge Connect, a new drop-in center designed to increase access to addiction/recovery and social services for unhoused individuals who may be resistant to traditional service providers. Initially operating from 4 to 6:30 p.m., the center will eventually extend hours until 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. It will offer a warm and welcoming space where individuals can receive a hot meal, charge electronic devices, and find comfortable indoor seating.
Peer support advocates will be available to engage with visitors, offering guidance and fostering a sense of belonging and community. The Bridge Connect aims to serve those who may face barriers to accessing other shelters or services, providing essential outreach and low-barrier services for chronically homeless individuals.
“The goal of The Bridge Connect is to create an environment where individuals can feel supported, valued, and part of a community,” said Ed Thornbrugh, Executive Director of The Bridge. “We want to ensure that people who may not be engaging with other providers have access to the care they need, whether it’s a meal, a place to charge devices or simply a safe space to relax and talk.”
The Bridge encourages everyone to visit during evening hours to see what the center offers and help spread the word. For more information or questions, contact Ed Thornbrugh, Executive Director, at (402) 413-2203. The Bridge Connect is just one of the many ways The Bridge is working to transform the lives of unhoused individuals in the community.
