This September, Nebraska’s volleyball community proved that a single color can unite an entire state. Angels Among Us’ (MyAngelsAmongUs.org) Go Gold campaign turned gyms from Omaha to Scottsbluff into a unified front against pediatric cancer. More than 1,000 athletes across 61 teams took the court in gold to stand with kids and families fighting cancer.
The impact reached far beyond the final whistle. More than 31,000 fans packed gyms across the state to witness the gold-out games in person. Online, the message traveled even further: the campaign generated over 1 million social media impressions, carrying stories of courage, resilience, and hope across Nebraska and beyond.
Every gold shirt, ribbon, and post tagged with the campaign is a direct link back to the families fighting in our community. Angels Among Us walks alongside these families to ease the financial
and emotional burdens brought on by pediatric cancer. Go Gold volleyball became a refl ection of the AAU mission: The Volleyball State choosing to show up for kids they may never meet for a cause bigger than any one school or team.
This campaign is a reminder that to Nebraska, volleyball is more than a sport: it’s a community. In September, the state spoke with one voice, in one color: gold. Thank you to Renaissance Financial and Hurrdat for going gold and their support of this campaign.
For 20 years, Angels Among Us has served over 850 pediatric cancer families living in or being treated in Nebraska with over $6.5 million in financial assistance. To learn more and get your team signed up to Go Gold in 2027, visit MyAngelsAmongUs.org.
