The Board of Directors of United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County approved $2,283,179 for distribution. $2,047,375 was distributed through the citizen review process to local non- profits that provide early childhood care and education, mentoring programs, food distribution, shelter, and victim safety.  United Way will grant funds to 62 programs from 42 agencies.

The United Way Board also approved $113,723 for other programs and initiatives including 2-1-1, the Summer Food Program, and Community Learning Centers.  Additionally, the Women’s Leadership Council and Women in Philanthropy Groups will distribute $101,655 for childcare scholarships and food supplements for working families and $20,426 to provide diapers and clothing.

In February and March, over 80 volunteers from across the community participated in the resource investment process.  They were divided into eight strategy review teams to consider 77 program applications from 42 agencies. Collectively, the volunteers invested more than 1,743 hours reviewing funding proposals, meeting with applicant agencies and determining the funding recommendations.
