Youth for Christ Announces Traveling Display of Serving Hands Public Art Project
To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Youth for Christ (www.yfclincoln.org) sponsored the Serving Hands public art project. For the first time, the project will include a smaller traveling display. The “little treasures,” which are life-sized hands compared to the six-foot sculptures placed around town, have been very popular so far. All Serving Hands sculptures were painted by local artists and funded by local organizations. To find a map of where you can find these beautiful statues around Lincoln and other updates, look on Youth for Christ’s Facebook page dedicated to the project (@servinghandslincoln).
The smaller sculptures will be displayed in seven locations around Lincoln up until their auction on October 24. They’ll even be at the Nebraska State Fair! The auction for the traveling exhibit pieces will take place during Youth for Christ’s Community Event at the Pinnacle Bank Arena. Kids’ activities will begin at 4 p.m. with food and beverages available. This is an opportunity to view all of the larger sculptures before the official auction the following evening on October 25. Event questions for this can be directed to Liz Shea-McCoy, Serving Hands director, at (402) 430-5923 / liz_shea@windstream.net.
