The People’s City Mission (PCM, pcmlincoln.org) has just been awarded a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the organization’s top rating. Charity Navigator is a nonprofit that provides millions of donors free access to data, tools, and resources to guide philanthropic decision-making. Through their ratings, nonprofits are equipped with the nonprofit sector’s premier trust indicator and a powerful platform to raise awareness and funds.

PCM is one of only a few nonprofits in Lincoln to give over 90% of their donations directly to the need. This percentage is especially important for the Mission because most of its support comes directly from individuals, businesses, and churches in the city.

“Our community is lucky to have so many charities that do a great job in getting their donations directly to the causes they serve,” said Pastor Tom. “Donors really need to know their contributions are being managed well. And Charity Navigator does a good job of showing people what percentage of their gifts are actually going to program expenses (the needs being served). Fortunately, Lincoln has a number of nonprofits in the eighty-percentile range, and a few of us in the nineties. And those are all great numbers!”

This year, the People’s City Mission celebrates its 115th year anniversary as Lincoln’s homeless shelter, and recognizes the milestones of helping over one million people during this time period as well as being open for over one million uninterrupted hours! To learn more, visit pcmlincoln.org.
