People’s City Mission to Host Toy Giveaways for Upcoming Holiday Season

People’s City Mission (PCM) (www.pcmlincoln.org) is hosting toy giveaways for kids who are staying at the Mission and for kids who come from impoverished families to provide a fun Christmas surprise. The first of the events will take place Monday, December 13, and Tuesday, December 14 at the shelter. Guests of the mission can shop for free for Christmas presents for their families from an array of new toys. Thursday, December 18, will be “Santa’s Workshop” at the Help Center, where families in need can shop for free as well. All of the toys are donated by individuals, businesses, and organizations from around the Lincoln area, and gift wrapping will also be provided.

Anyone who would like to donate a new toy for their annual toy drive can drop them off at the Mission at 110 Q St. or at the Help Center, 6800 P St. All donations need to be received by Friday, December 10 to be included in the giveaways.

People’s City Mission was started in 1907 by local churches, offering food and shelter for transient and impoverished men, women, and children. In 1987, PCM moved to their current location and now houses 350 men, women, and children nightly in their emergency shelters and the Curtis Center transitional housing program. As Lincoln’s homeless shelter, People’s City Mission’s work is more than 97% funded by community donations. Contact info@pcmlincoln.org or call (402) 475-1303.
