Dr. Rahul Razdan Makes AMI First ASC in U.S. to Perform SIR-Spheres® Y-90 Procedure
Advanced Medical Imaging (AMI, amimaging.com) has become the first ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in the United States to perform a SIR-Spheres® Y-90 procedure. The procedure, performed by Dr. Rahul Razdan, is a targeted radiation therapy that injects microscopic resin beads directly into the bloodstream to kill liver tumors while sparing healthy cells. The procedure uses SIR-Spheres® microspheres that contain the radioactive isotope Yttrium-90 (Y-90); the tiny particles travel easily through the bloodstream and become lodged inside liver tumors to kill them directly through radiation. It is a well-tolerated and effective method to treat colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver and is often used in conjunction with chemotherapy. While it has previously only been performed in hospitals, Dr. Razdan has made AMI the first ASC (or same-day surgery center) in the U.S. to perform the procedure on its patients. AMI’s Dr. Razdan is one of the most skilled vascular and interventional radiologists in the Midwest and also alleviates patients’ pain by treating vascular disease, performing image-guided spinal pain procedures, and treating migraines. Reach out to Dr. Razdan for more information on the procedure, or to see if you qualify.
Advanced Medical Imaging physicians are vascular and interventional radiologists who specialize in minimally-invasive, image-guided procedures. Due to their experiences and success rate, AMI is the only SphenoCath Certified Training Center of Excellence in the country. To learn more, call (402) 484-6677 or visit amimaging.com.
