On Jan. 24, Nebraska City Chamber of Commerce Past President Tara Nanninga, Physical Therapist at Husker Rehab in Nebraska City, had the privilege to present the 2026 Volunteer of the Year Award to Mike Gress.

Gress was recognized for his generous and ongoing donation of plastic recycling materials to Keep Nebraska City Beautiful, a local organization dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the appearance and environmental health of the community. His contributions have supported sustainability efforts and reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship within Nebraska City.

Husker Rehab celebrates those Volunteers who go above and beyond in service to the community. Tara Nanninga serves as the past President of the Nebraska City Tourism & Commerce (NCTC) Board of Directors, leading the organization during its historic 100th year in 2025 as the chamber president. Since joining the Chamber in 2021, she has played an active role in board leadership and community collaboration, helping guide initiatives that strengthen local businesses and tourism. The Chamber continues to support major community events such as AppleJack, Arbor Day, and Tree Stock, while promoting economic growth throughout Nebraska City. Tara also volunteers approximately 50 hours each year in service to the community and received the 2021 Golden Apple Award for Husker Rehab in Nebraska City in recognition of her dedication to clients and involvement in local events.
