Dr. Douglas Tewes of Lincoln Orthopaedic Center was acknowledged for his service and dedication to Concordia University. He received an honorary doctorate degree at their commencement ceremony on in May where he also delivered the commencement address.
Dr. Tewes, a 1983 graduate of Concordia College, was presented with the Doctor of Law degree for his contributions to the field of orthopedic medicine, southeast Nebraska communities and Concordia University.
Dr. Tewes currently serves as an orthopedic surgeon and director of Sports Medicine program at Lincoln Orthopaedic Center. He is team physician for the Concordia Bulldogs, Doane Tigers, Wesleyan Prairie Wolves, Lincoln Saltdogs and Lincoln Stars as well as a number of area high schools. Tewes was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 1995 and earned a Sports Medicine Board Certification in February 2012. He is one of the only orthopaedic surgeons in the Lincoln area who has a Sports Medicine Board Certification. In addition to his medical service, Dr. Tewes has served on the Concordia Foundation Board of Directors for 17 years.
