Victoria O’Neil, former coordinator of volunteers, has stepped into a new role at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (mtko.org) during its busiest time of the year. As director of hunger relief and volunteerism, Victoria will be working closely with the Hunger Relief teams who prepare and serve two meals every day of the year. She also looks forward to partnering with local sources to provide fresh, affordable food to the guests at Matt Talbot. Victoria will be focusing on nutritional value and incorporating fresh food from Matt Talbot’s HOPE garden.

In addition to an increased number of meals, the summer months typically bring more guests seeking outreach services and seasonal items.

“For those in our community without a home and regular access to water, summer is really tough,” said Susanne Blue, executive director. “Matt Talbot is here to provide a cool shelter during the day as well as meals, water, and other outreach services to help keep people safe, healthy, and hopeful for better days.”

During this bustling season, guests are in need of deodorant, cooling towels, sunscreen, and bug spray. Donations can be brought directly to the community kitchen and outreach center at 2121 N 27th St. between 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information about holding a drive at your workplace, please contact Victoria O’Neil at victoria.oneil@mtko.org or (402) 477-4116.
