Old Cheney Rehabilitation (oldcheneyrehab.com) is proud to partner with Deb Bussey, APRN from Community Health Care Partners in efforts to prevent and heal wounds at Old Cheney Rehabilitation. Deb is a certified wound ostomy and continence provider with 33 years of experience in nursing, 10 of those years were spent in the Wound Center at St Elizabeth. After earning her advanced nurse practitioner in 2023, Deb has since obtained her primary care gerontology certification and foot care certifications.

There is an increased need for advanced wound care in the community for those both living at home and completing rehabilitation services in a facility. Deb says, “I have always loved wound care, with the challenges in navigating the barriers that are present in those who are at higher risk for developing wounds and/or delayed wound healing.”

Deb describes herself as a lifelong learner and is working on obtaining her certification in diabetic foot care. She provides education for Old Cheney Rehabilitation’s nursing staff to enhance treatments and prevention of wounds.

Suzanne Gill, Director of Nursing at Old Cheney Rehabilitation shares, “Deb is very easy to work with; she is knowledgeable and patientdriven as she really advocates for patients in helping them reach their health goals. We are lucky to partner Deb as we work together to enhance our patient outcomes here at Old Cheney Rehabilitation.”
