Richard retired from the Nebraska State Patrol after 25 years of service. During his career, Richard helped develop Nebraska’s state intelligence organization and deployed a statewide network for local and federal agencies to share information. He was often involved in the business side of public organizations, helping to improve processes and develop organizations to create cost saving efficiencies.
As an entrepreneur, Richard has started or acquired several businesses in partnerships with his wife and a business partner. He is a partner at the Pas de Deux dance studio; is a founding partner of Gannett Peak Investments, a commercial real estate holding company; and is the president of Flagstone Peak Logistics, a commercial carrier company. These experiences give Richard direct knowledge in all aspects of creating, buying, and operating a business.
Richard served in the Nebraska Army National Guard, working in many capacities inside Nebraska’s Long Range Surveillance Detachment. He eventually became top non-commissioned officer of the unit. During his three years of service in combat operations, Richard mentored General Staff on intelligence and operations as well as logistics for the Afghanistan National Police-Kabul Counter Terrorism Unit. Notably, Richard and over 40 of his soldiers earned the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for serving orphaned children in Kabul.
Richard has always been involved in community service by volunteering time and skill. He is a regular volunteer staff member at Messiah Lutheran Church in Lincoln, and he is a presenter for Lincoln Public Schools during Veterans Day celebrations. He has passed this community spirit onto his kids who have collected money and toys to donate to the families at the People’s City Mission.
