In honor of Independence Day, People’s City Mission (pcmlincoln.org) is drawing attention to the ongoing needs of Nebraska veterans facing homelessness, addiction and housing instability. While many veterans successfully transition to civilian life, others encounter challenges related to trauma, health concerns, substance abuse, unemployment and financial hardship.
During the past year, PCM proudly served 132 veterans through emergency shelter, meals, addiction recovery programs, transitional housing, case management and employment support. Many veterans arrive seeking a fresh start after diff cult circumstances and are able to rebuild stability through the PCM’s programs.
Advocates estimate that well over 100 veterans may experience homelessness across Nebraska on any given night. PCM remains committed to ensuring these men and women are not forgotten by providing practical assistance, compassionate care and pathways toward long-term independence. Community support continues to play a vital role in helping veterans rebuild their lives and regain hope for the future.
