United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County is making history. “This is a historic moment for United Way, stated Brad Hedrick, 2011 President of the United Way Board. Not only are we setting an ambitious fundraising goal, but we are also setting a goal to increase the number of readers, tutors and mentors in our community.”

Following the lead of United Way Worldwide’s goal of recruiting one million mentors over the next three years, United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County has committed to finding readers, tutors and mentors in the community to support youth and help them succeed.

United Way’s goal is to recruit 3,348 local volunteers. This breaks down to 94 readers, 739 tutors and 2,515 mentors who are needed to work with youth in United Way funded agencies.
