Doane College has selected a longtime faculty member and administrator from the University of New England (UNE) to be Doane’s next leader.

On Friday, May 6, Doane’s Board of Trustees announced that Dr. Jacque Carter, UNE’s provost and vice president of Academic Affairs for the past five years, will serve as Doane’s 12th President.  Carter officially begins his term as the president of Doane’s three campuses on July 1. Current President Jonathan Brand ends his six-year tenure June 30 to become the Cornell College president.

The search for a new Doane president spanned the last seven months and narrowed from an initial field of over 50 qualified applicants to three finalists who visited campus in the last few days.
Doane College is the first private liberal arts and sciences college in Nebraska. Doane has campuses in Crete, Lincoln and Grand Island. Doane consistently ranks among the top colleges and universities in the Midwest by U.S.News & World Report, Forbes.com and The Princeton Review.
