Willard Community Center (willardcommunitycenter.org) is hosting two events during the month of November to help keep the underserved community warm and fed during this upcoming winter season. The first event will take place on Tuesday, November 15 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in partnership with the Food Bank of Lincoln’s Lincoln Fresh Food Truck. Lincoln Fresh will be using their food truck to hand out healthy free fruits and vegetables to those in need.

In addition, Willard Community Center’s Winter Coat Drive will be held on the following day on Wednesday, November 16, with distribution from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for any community member in need. The donation deadline is Monday, November 14. The goal is to serve the West A community and the youth involved with Schroder Park Wellness Campus. Willard’s donation bin is in the vestibule of the front doors for collection. Ring the doorbell to the left of the door, and a Willard staff member will be with you shortly to take your donation. Please consider donating gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, sweatshirts, hoodies, coats, snow pants, or anything warm.

Willard Community Center focuses on youth development and education and presents programs across the age spectrum, including senior adults. Willard offers early childhood education preschool and Pre-K, before and after school programs for elementary schools, and social/educational opportunities for adults. Willard’s children attend Roper or Lakeview Elementary Schools; each serves a high percentage of free and reduced lunch participants. Learn more at willardcommunitycenter.org.
