Nebraska VR’s (vr.nebraska.gov) Career Pathways Advancement Project (CPAP 2.0) partners with businesses to upskill their employees who experience a disability. The grant funded project focuses on the industries of Architecture/Construction, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics (TDL). The goal is to upskill existing employees to advance within the business and fill vacant positions with an untapped pool of talent.
Partnering businesses benefit through:
• Cost saving employee training
• Supports for employee retention and turnover reduction
• Expertise in identifying necessary accommodations
• Education and guidance around ADA compliance
• Fostering an inclusive workforce, including individuals with disabilities
One in five people experience a disability and 50% of those may experience a disability not observable to everyone else. Disability can present barriers that make job duties more difficult and impact success on the job. Individuals may experience disability through accident, injury, illness, or birth.
Employees may be eligible for this unique opportunity who have one or more of the following: 
• Problems with hearing
• Mental health, depression, anxiety
• Drug and alcohol dependency
• Diabetes, and other long-term illnesses
• Other physical restrictions including lifting, standing, or sitting
• Chronic pain from back, joints, migraines, or hands and wrists
• Specific learning disabilities including attention deficits or hyperactivity
