Mid-West Slims LLC, Franchise owners Bill & Stacie Hooks, opened their third Slim Chickens restaurant in Lincoln, NE on Tuesday, September 15th. The restaurant, located at 2740 N. 83rd Street, is the newest addition to the Slim Chickens franchise and is located on the North side of Lincoln.
Slim Chicken’s mission is to make the best hand-breaded chicken tenders using only the freshest ingredients, served in a friendly atmosphere where guests can relax and feel at home. Their time tested recipe has become a household favorite, locking in flavor with their southern-style buttermilk marinade, and lightly breaded by hand with every order.
The Slims menu features fried or grilled chicken tenders, wings, salads, wraps, sandwiches, chicken & waffles, southern sides and their famous jar desserts. We tried a variety of things from Slim Chickens. We got the Garlic Parmesan wings, the Chicken and Waffles, Slim’s Salad, Slim’s Wrap, Chicken Club Sandwich and the Tender Mac & Cheese Bowl. All the chicken was made fresh, crispy, juicy and tender… in just the right way.
Many of their meals come with a crispy and tasty side of Texas toast and fries.
We also tried the fried pickles and okra and they are just as good as you can imagine: warm and crispy with the right bitterness.
One of the standout things about Slim Chickens was their large variety of dipping sauces, around 17 choices for your chicken. Hand breaded chicken is the perfect canvas for homemade dipping sauces like Cayenne Ranch, Korean BBQ, Buffalo, Gravy, Mango Habanero, Sweet Red Chili and Garlic Parmesan, giving endless options of dipping, mixing and wing sauces.
We were surprised by their Dessert Jars. With options of Nilla Banana Pudding Jar, Strawberry Cheesecake Jar and Chocolate Brownie Pudding Jar, these layered desserts are packed into mason jars with lids, full of fresh fruits, cookie bits and smooth puddings to make the best sweet treat for any day, any time. Not only do these desserts satisfy any sweet tooth, you also get a mason jar to keep.
